- The Isle of Skye is the largest and most northernmost of the major islands in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland.
- The island up to 1266 was considered to be a sovereign state of Norway until the Treaty of Perth transferred the control of Skye over to Scotland.
- Skye is simply beautiful. Its stunning landscapes provide a paradise for hikers and photographers.
- The island is a haven for wildlife. The golden eagle, red deer, and the Atlantic salmon can be found on Skye.
- The Isle of Raasay is a island between the Isle of Skye and mainland Scotland.
- It is famous for being the birthplace of the Gaelic poet Sorley Maclean, an important figure in the Scottish Renaissance.
- The island has a population of 161.
- Raasay means "Isle of Roe Deer" and is home to an endemic subspecies of bank vole.
- Traditionally Raasay was the home of the clan MacSween.
- The island was ruled by the MacLeods from the 15th century to the 19th century.
- Raasay House, which was visited by James Boswell and Samuel Johnson in 1773, is now a bar and restaurant.
- The island has it's own whisky and gin distillery.
- If you visiting Skye you can take the short hop on the car ferry to Raasay.
- The Isle of Skye and Raasay gives you a longing to return over and over again.
- I do hope you like my work
