- The circular walk of Mam Tor is 5.2 miles long.
- For many people the village of Castleton is a favourite starting point to start the walk.
- The name Mam Tor originates from the old English language.
- In modern day language it translates to 'Mother Hill'
- The name Mother Hill was adopted because of frequent landslips on Mam Tor's eastern face.
- This resulted in a multitude of small daughter hills beneath it.
- At the base of Mam Tor, nearby, are four show caves which includes the famous Blue John Cavern.
