- The Holy Isle has a long spiritual history stretching back to the sixth century.
- When visiting Arran you can reach Holy Isle by boat from Lamlash which takes about twenty minutes.
- On the island you can find a ancient healing spring and evidence of a 13th century monastery.
- A hermit cave occupied by St. Molaise of Ireland, dating back to the sixth century, can be also found on Holy Isle.
- At present there are three types of large mammals that can be found on the island: the Eriskay ponies, Soay sheep and the Saanen goats.
- The island is divided into several areas, some reserved for birds and animals and others for native tree planting.
- A closed Buddhist retreat is located on the south of Holy Island in converted lighthouse cottages.
- Most of the residents who live on Holy Isle are volunteers and practicing Buddhists.
- The Holy Isle project offers a daily meditation schedule for visitors.
- When visiting Arran it is well worth visiting Holy Isle.
- I do hope you like my work.
